Old Children and Young

Know that I don’t take this lightly
More than just a little thorn in my side
Oh, how I deride this position I’m in
With this frost bitten grin on my face
I’ve been daydreaming, my mind astray
Brooding in a cosmic headspace
The three orders intertwined,
My ego isn’t mine
The death of all I cared about
Visible when the sun is down
And I can’t talk about it
I can’t talk about it
The ID, the drive, the principles
All gone, no more, it’s miserable
And I can’t think about it
I can’t think about it
No, I can’t make a decision
And I’ve put some thought into it this time
And oh, how I deride this position I’m in
When you exited off stage right.
We are all alone
Old children and young
Bitter to the bone
We fall, we fall, we fall

He’s got a thrift store bought pet rock on his mantle
A memento of a girl who lived his way
He can see clearly now her legs, her teeth, her hair
But the pet rock he just sits, and he stares
Cause there’s not much to see within these four grey walls
A pinup of a woman who’s writhing on the floor
And there’s a guy down the hall who murdered his grandpa
But he’ll get out before us cause of his behaviour
He’s got a thrift store bought pet rock
On his mantel top, it’s falls off
And reminds him of
The crushing weight
That a stone can make
When swung down with in anger
When the crowd gathered round he broke down in an instant
What a nice young man they all thought he was
He can see clearly now her legs, her teeth, her hair
And a glazed look in her eyes as she just lay there and stared.
Blood stained from the bottom to the top
There’s still a mark on the wall from where it all kicked off
He was in the news for at least three weeks
And that rock still asks how that boy can sleep

What you saw is not what’s wrong
So keep your head, it get’s much worse
Shuffling, fucking through your living
Never seemed to feel too Pretty
Learn nothing from your parents
Don’t look back and don’t you blame them
Don’t hold your breath for change to come
It’s not your fault, the damage is done
Love the smell of a new city
Don’t stay long and don’t get comfy
Picture faces on that jury
Everybody knows what you did
You don’t know me like how I know you
Let me show you what you’re in for
Man is doomed of this I know
but one more life don’t matter that much
How much longer can you do this?
All your youth and all your privilege
Keep on travelling, keep on shifting
Don’t you stop until they get you
You don’t know me like how I know you
Let me show you what you’re in for

The gong bangs for us, the guillotine comes down.
The fuse that was our candle blows up our former selves
The animals in the zoo wont know what to do when the gates are flung open and neither will you.
The animals in the zoo wont know what to do when the gates are flung open and neither will you.
Rootless, born again
Never to be tamed
Wandering down corridors looking for the exit sign
But who will tend these fires that cut through the land?
Wandering down corridors looking for the exit sign
Looking for the exit sign
Looking for the exit sign
I'm smashing mirrors
You can see Vegas in my eyes
The future is shapeless
No faith in my disguise
I'm longing for a limb
to reach out from the dark
and shape this mould of clay
into something good
Shape this mould of clay
Shape this mould of clay
Shape this mould of clay
into something good
Suddenly the ground breaks up and underneath's just sky
And all we can do is tumble into an alternate you and I
The ball and chain brought me pain but also held me down
Now I have no excuse to keep barreling through my mind.

When life gives you the grapes of wrath,
You make some wine and you draw a bath
It’s easy to sit on the fence forever,
When you’re surrounded by canyons on both sides
The sun is setting, ships are sailing
All I can hear are babies wailing
I want to know what shut you up
I want to know what made you give up
It's hard to care about tomorrow's flood
When you're tucked away inside the ramparts
This tender life I love is killing me
And you know I can’t shake it
No more cities to build, no more space to fill
Maybe now I can loiter for a living
I want to know what shut you up
I want to know what made you give up
They say there’s no second act
Well the first has dragged
And the plot was drab
And have you ever seen the players so unprepared?
Im dreaming of how good we had it
While I wait for the afterlife
Can you keep my drink fresh?
Can you handle the stress?
